Terms of use
SPAKCY is an online marketplace that connects pet owners with independent pet sitters in Cyprus. SPAKCY is not a pet-care provider and sitters are not SPAKCY employees. Each booking is an agreement between the owner and the sitter; SPAKCY provides the platform, identity verification, payment handling and support.
Accounts
- You must be 18 or older and give accurate information.
- One person, one account. Don’t share your login.
- Keep communication and payments on SPAKCY. Taking a booking off-platform removes payment protection and can lead to account suspension.
Bookings
An owner sends a request; the booking is confirmed when the sitter accepts and payment succeeds. The price shown at checkout — the sitter’s rate plus SPAKCY’s 20% service fee — is the final price.
Reviews
Only owners who completed a paid booking can review. Reviews must be honest and may not include contact details, links or abusive language.
Cancellation policy
- More than 48 hours before the start: full refund, including the service fee.
- Less than 48 hours before the start: the first night or visit is charged; the rest is refunded.
- After the stay has started: unused nights are refunded minus one night.
- If the sitter cancels: full refund, and we help you find a replacement.
Refunds go back to the original payment method within 5–10 working days.
Sitter terms
- Sitters must pass identity, selfie and Cyprus-address verification before being listed, and re-verify every 12 months.
- Sitters set their own rates and availability and may decline any request.
- SPAKCY’s commission is deducted from each payout (standard 20%; 10% for the first 50 sitters for 12 months).
- Payouts are released 24 hours after a stay ends, unless a dispute is opened.
- Sitters are independent and responsible for declaring their income to the Cyprus Tax Department and, where applicable, registering with Social Insurance.
- Sitters must follow the care instructions agreed with the owner and send regular updates.
Privacy policy
We process personal data under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Cyprus Law 125(I)/2018.
What we collect
- Account data: name, email, phone, city, photo.
- Pet profiles and care notes you add.
- Sitter verification documents — encrypted, visible only to the verification team, deleted 30 days after the check (the result is kept).
- Booking, message and payment records. Card data is handled by our payment provider and never stored by SPAKCY.
How we use it
To run bookings, verify sitters, prevent fraud and provide support. Your exact address and phone number are shared with the other party only after a booking is confirmed. We never sell your data.
Your rights
You can access, correct, export or delete your data at any time from Settings, or by writing to privacy@spakcy.com. You can also complain to the Office of the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection in Cyprus.
How long we keep it
Account data until you delete your account. Booking and payment records for 6 years to meet accounting obligations.
